String Quartet Academy Overnight Camp, ages 16 - 24
Fee is all inclusive of room and board, tuition and extracurricular activities. Students are housed at the Hilton Homewood Suites in Medford (near St. Mary's School). Counselors reside in the hotel with the students and supervise them 24 hours day. Counselors and staff are carefully selected to provide a nurturing and safe environment. The Academy will take place at St. Mary's School in Medford.
The Arianna String Quartet will lead the academy and is comprised of:

Kurt Baldwin, cello
Students also attend all of the Britt Festival Orchestra performances and have the opportunity to participate in special sessions with Maestro Peter Bay and Britt Orchestra guest soloists.
Student performances include performing on the Britt hill prior to the concert, as part of the Opening Night Gala, performances throughout the community and a final student recital.
Appropriate age and skill level:
Intermediate to advanced students aged 16-24. Special permission required from the faculty for students under 16; contact Education Coordinator Susan Marsden prior to applying. Students under 18 will be supervised at all times.
The camp accepts 32 students, comprising 8 quartets. Studies include daily ensemble rehearsals, quartet coaching sessions, chamber orchestra, master classes, private lessons, score study and performance opportunities, all presented in a nurturing atmosphere that inspires the highest standards of commitment and dedication.

Jump Start Fiddle Camp, ages 5 - 8
Teacher: Duane Whitcomb
This camp is for children ages 5 - 8 who are interested in learning to play the violin and fiddle.
Campers will learn, how to hold the violin and bow, rhythms and melodies, how to play “harmony” alongside a fiddle tune, as well as, singing and playing with their favorite tunes.
Teacher Duane Whitcomb and some of his students will play together with new fiddlers and introduce music in a relaxed and fun way.
Space is limited and pre-registration is required.
Session I: August 16 - 19, 10:30 - 12:00
Where: Lithia Park near the playground
Fee: $125 (with violin) or $100 (you bring your own violin)

Creekside Fiddle Camp, ages 7 - 15
Teacher: Duane Whitcomb
The workshop will be led by Duane Whitcomb who performs and teaches Celtic, Bluegrass, Blues, Jazz and Classical on violin and 5-string fiddle. Fiddlers, violists, cellists, bassists, guitarists and other string players of all abilities are welcome. Parts will be adapted to the ability of the player, from beginner harmonies to more advanced rhythm techniques.

This is a fun gathering of musicians between the ages of 7 and 15.We learn a variety of fun fiddle tunes by ear, play music in small groups, run around for awhile, have some lunch and play more music.
We will be practicing in Lithia Park in the same spot we have met in the past -- between the lower duck pond and the playground area. Students should bring a camping stool (or similar portable seat).
Session I: June 21 - 25, 10:30 - 2:00 (Lunch will be provided.)
Note: Younger players can leave after lunch if parents wish.
